The Indonesian national team succeeded in winning the AFC eAsian Cup 2024 title. This was achieved after Rizky Faidan, Elga Cahya and Akbar Paudie defeated Japan in the final which was held at the Virtuocity Arena Doha, Qatar.
This final match was tight from the start of the game. The Faidan-Elga duo who played in this match took the lead at the start of the match, however, the Japanese team who fielded Aihara Tsubasa and Hashiki Shumpei equalized the score at 1-1 which forced the match to continue into a redundant time round. In this round the game went on without a single differentiating goal being scored so the match had to continue in a penalty shootout.
The eGaruda squad also won the match in the first leg, winning on penalties 3-2. In the second leg, the Faidan-Elga duo was again deployed to face the Blue Samurai squad. By playing calmly throughout the match, the Indonesian eTimnas was successful in scoring a goal in this match and leading them to win the title at the 2023 AFC eAsian Cup.
“The match against Japan today was quite tough because they played under pressure from the first half. We have used all the game play to be able to pressure them, but it must be admitted that the Japanese team's performance was different when we faced them in the group phase. "Thank God, everything was over and we were able to win the title," said Elga Cahya.

The same thing was acknowledged by Faidan, who competed fully in every eTimnas match in the AFC eAsian Cup 2023. He also admitted that today both teams played persistently and tightly in order to succeed in bringing the championship trophy for the first time.
"It must be admitted that Japan played differently today, and we were a little pressured by their game play. But we remained calm throughout the match and controlled ourselves so we could perform optimally. Thank God we were able to win and make new history at this event," said Faidan.
