Indonesia's ranking in the latest FIFA rankings increased after the Red and White national team qualified for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
Based on the list released by FIFA on February 15 2024, Indonesia is now ranked 142nd in the world or up four places from its previous position.
PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir welcomed the significant increase in ranking positively. Moreover, in the last five years, FIFA's 142nd position has been Indonesia's best ranking.
The best position for the national team this year is 145th on October 26 2023.

"Thank God, the 142nd position in FIFA is not only the highest in the last five years, but also in this year. Although my target remains as soon as possible to reach 100 in the world, this is a process that proves the program we are carrying out at PSSI, especially in preparing a competitive national team and quality, already on the track," said Erick.
Efforts to continue to increase the ranking will be presented in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asia Zone. Indonesia, which is part of Group F with Iraq, Vietnam and the Philippines, will play the closest match on 21 and 26 March 2024 in the home and away matches against Vietnam.
So far, the national team has collected 1 point from a draw against the Philippines and one loss to Iraq.
